About Us

A social enterprise building community-led systems in clean energy, livelihoods, and youth empowerment.

Built for Change

At TREE Innovative Foundation (TREEI), we believe that true development begins when technology meets empathy, and solutions are co-created with the communities they serve. Our work is grounded in the conviction that sustainability is not a one-time intervention, but a long-term system — one that respects local knowledge, addresses structural gaps, and builds resilience from the ground up.

Founded in 2018, TREEI works at the intersection of clean energy, inclusive livelihoods, youth empowerment, and decentralised infrastructure. Our approach is field-first and people-led, combining engineering precision, social insight, and design thinking to solve some of the most urgent challenges in underserved regions.

We don’t implement charity. We build systems!
We don’t create dependency. We enable dignity

From tribal villages receiving electricity for the first time under Mission URJA, to building supply chains that connect rural women entrepreneurs to urban consumers through Project Eklavya, to reimagining youth readiness with Project Dhruv — TREEI’s work is unified by a single belief:

That progress must be local, inclusive, and sustainable — or it’s not progress at all.

Our vision is to create resilient, self-reliant communities through scalable, collaborative innovations that leave no one behind.

MISSION

To optimise and integrate technology and innovation on the ground where it’s needed the most — helping communities achieve gradual growth and making them capable of helping themselves.

VALUES

TREEI is driven by three core values: innovation at the grassroots, empowering self-reliance, and building purposeful, scalable systems that create lasting change where it’s needed most.

Milestones That Matter

A journey of ideas turned into impact — shaping systems, empowering people, and redefining what’s possible.

Fy 2019-20

Roots of Innovation

Where systems thinking took shape.

TREEI was founded with the invention of NeerChakra, reducing water-fetching burden for 65,000+ rural women and earning the Global Heller Challenge Award at MIT. This period laid the foundation for TREEI’s ideology of engineering-led grassroots transformation.

Response with Resolve

Early proof of scalable, human-first solutions.

In the face of COVID-19, TREEI rapidly developed and deployed Maharashtra’s first Human Disinfectant Chamber and led a hyperlocal response in 20 slum clusters, activating 500+ community volunteers.
Meanwhile, we launched EconPlast — an ongoing innovation converting 80+ tons of plastic waste into concrete materials for urban infrastructure.

Systems Taking Shape

From pilot to program, from local to multi-regional.

We officially launched Project Dhruv and Mission URJA, scaling access to life skills, mental health, and technical skilling for students, and bringing solar-based electricity to tribal hamlets, many for the very first time.
TREEI received the IIT Bombay Social Innovation Award and global recognition at the SDG Challenge in Paris.

Inclusive Growth, Scalable Models

Multiple projects, one unified mission.

Project Eklavya was launched to build value chains for rural women entrepreneurs, reaching 400+ women and over 100+ sustainable products.
Mission URJA continued to expand, lighting up 85% first-time electrified households across 30+ tribal villages.
Meanwhile, The Third Wheel, Maharashtra’s first LGBTQ+ food truck, opened a new path for enterprise and inclusion.

Convergence and Acceleration

TREEI becomes a system accelerator, not just a project implementer.

With operations across 12+ geographies, TREEI’s multi-domain work in clean energy, women-led enterprise, youth skilling, and decentralised innovation has now impacted 400,000+ individuals.
All flagship projects continue to scale with a shared goal: 100 electrified villages and 1,000+ women entrepreneurs by 2028.

Tanveer Inamdar

He is a social innovator and systems leader who founded TREE Innovative Foundation (TREEI) to bridge the gap between grassroots realities and high-impact, tech-enabled solutions. With deep roots in community development and an eye for scalable design, his mission is to build infrastructure for dignity, not dependency, in India’s most underserved regions.

In 2018, he and his team introduced NeerChakra, a patented innovation that reduced the physical burden of water-carrying for over 65,000 rural women, earning global acclaim at MIT’s Heller Challenge and recognition from the Government of India’s Mission Pani. Since then, he has led TREEI through a series of pioneering models like EconPlast (plastic-to-concrete technology), Mission URJA (tribal electrification through decentralised renewables), and Project Dhruv (life-skilling for underserved youth).

Under Tanveer’s leadership, TREEI has positively impacted 400,000+ lives across 12+ geographies, with flagship projects supported by global CSR leaders like Netcracker Technology, Imerys, and the Persistent Foundation. His work has earned him the Karmaveer Chakra Award by the UN (2020), the Young Scientist Award (2023), and a spotlight feature in The Better India.

A believer in decentralisation, field-led innovation, and human-centric design, Tanveer continues to lead TREEI with a bold vision: to create replicable systems that empower communities from within — where dignity meets technology, and impact becomes inevitable.
